Counseling at Community Church

why we exist

Counseling at Community Church is a service provided for Community Church members and regular attenders.  The counseling team of Community Church supports members/attendees by providing a safe place where individuals can be seen, heard and known. We offer space to process emotions, identify patterns and find courage to take the next step in their journey of emotional health with Jesus.

common topics we cover

Our counseling team specializes in supporting individuals through a variety of emotional and relational issues, including:

  • Emotional Health: Boundaries, grief, communication, anxiety, depression, guilt/shame, authenticity, integrity, forgiveness, trust.
  • Relationships: Marital issues, communication, premarital counseling, connection, trust, and conflict resolution.
  • Personal Growth: Navigating personal challenges, spiritual development, emotional resilience, overcoming fear, and self-awareness

For issues requiring specialized care, such as clinical mental health disorders or medications, we will refer you to trusted providers.

Q & A's

A: Community Counseling offers biblical counseling that focuses on spiritual and emotional well-being. Our counselors use Scripture as a foundation to address life challenges, emotional health, and relational issues. While we do not offer therapy for clinical mental health disorders, we provide guidance for those seeking spiritual and emotional support.

A: Yes, you can request a specific counselor, though availability may vary. We will do our best to accommodate your request based on counselor schedules. If your preferred counselor is unavailable, we may connect you with another counselor from our team.

A: Our counseling department operates by appointment only during our listed office hours (Tuesday-Thursday from 9 AM to 5 PM). However, if you are in need of immediate support, we can provide information about emergency services or mental health crisis hotlines.

A: Community Counseling typically provides short-term counseling. After approximately 6 sessions, we reassess to determine the next steps. If ongoing or long-term counseling is needed, we will assist in referring you to licensed professionals who can offer continued support.

A: Yes, confidentiality is very important to us. Counseling sessions are private, and what you share will remain confidential, with a few exceptions as required by law (e.g., if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others). Our counselors are trained to handle sensitive issues with the utmost care and respect.

A: Community Church values your spiritual and emotional health, which is why we offer counseling services at no charge to members and regular attendees of Community Church. If you are referred to a licensed counselor, their fees will apply and you will be subject to their fee schedule.

A: No, each individual is responsible for scheduling their own appointment. Recovery begins with a person’s willingness to seek help, and it is essential that they take the first step. While it's wonderful that you want to support your loved one, it is crucial for them to reach out themselves when they are ready. If they are open to counseling, we encourage them to contact us directly to set up an appointment.

A: The counselors on staff at Community Church are board-certified biblical counselors accredited through the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). However, as biblical counselors, we do not provide formal diagnoses of psychological disorders.

A: Yes! We understand that finding the right mental health provider can be overwhelming. Part of our role is to assist you in connecting with professionals whose expertise aligns with your specific needs.

A: We do not provide counseling services for individuals under the age of 18. However, we can recommend trusted local counselors and mental health providers who specialize in children and adolescent care.

A: We do not allow children or babies to attend counseling sessions, as they can be a distraction for both the client and counselor. Additionally, due to the nature of the issues discussed, it is not beneficial for the child. We do not offer childcare services during counseling sessions.

A: Counseling services at Community Church are available to members and regular attendees of Community Church. If you are new to the church or have questions about your eligibility, please reach out to us for more information.
